For the 32 states using the Federally-facilitated Marketplace, the Open Enrollment Period (OEP) generally spans from November 1st to January 15th. The Window Shopping period allows you to preview plans before OEP begins, giving you a head start.
Window Shopping Start: Typically mid-to-late October
Purpose: Preview upcoming year's plans and save selections for clients
Automation: Saved plans attach automatically when OEP begins
Notifications: CMS and JET Health Solutions will alert you when Window Shopping goes live
Tip: Use the toggle on the plan shopping page to compare current vs. upcoming year plans (e.g., for SEP enrollments).
Click "Renew plan" when the button appears
Review the renewal expectations page
Select "Start my renewal" → Proceed to Plan Results
Click "Quote" to enter Window Shopping
Enter client details to view plan options
Explore: Available plans with updated subsidy estimates
Save Options:
Click "Add to cart" on a plan card
Or select "Start Application" (also saves the plan)
Saved selections appear on:
Client Details (existing clients)
Lead Details (new clients)
With a "Resume shopping" button for later access.
Return to the client/lead profile
Click "Resume shopping"
Complete the application (pre-selected plan auto-attaches)
