The SSN is used to verify your identity and eligibility for health insurance. It helps prevent fraud and ensures accurate processing of your application.
SSN is required for applicants other than newborns, born in the past 90 days. If SSN is not entered, agent/broker will be blocked from proceeding further in the application.
Enter the SSN in the designated field on the application form.
Ensure the number is accurate to avoid delays in processing.
After agent/broker enters SSN for an applicant, CMS will verify with the Social Security Administration (SSA).
If the SSN is verified, agent/broker will be able to continue the application.
If the SSN is not verified, agent/broker will see an error message.
In some cases where the SSN is valid but mismatched in SSA, agent/broker will be required to re-enter applicant demographics and SSN.
Agent/broker will not be able to proceed further unless the SSN has been verified with SSA.
Agents must provide SSNs for U.S. citizens/nationals and will have to provide immigration documents for non-U.S. citizens/nationals.
For non-applicants, SSN is optional. However, if SSN is entered, CMS will verify with the Social Security Administration. Agent/broker will not be able to proceed further if an invalid SSN is entered.
