The NPN override feature allows agents to submit Marketplace enrollments using an Agent of Record (AOR) designated by their agency for specific carriers.
This feature is intended for scenarios where a writing agent does not have a direct appointment with a carrier but is authorized to submit applications using an agency-designated AOR.
The writing agent submits the Marketplace application.
The override agent (AOR or Principal Agent) is selected during enrollment submission.
The enrollment is associated with the AOR in CMS records.
Both agents must:
Hold a valid state license in the state of sale
Be FFM-certified
Agencies may designate certain agents as Override Agents (AORs) in JET Insure if the agents:
Hold a valid state license
Are FFM-certified
Have active carrier appointments
AORs may be designated on a state-by-state basis and assigned to writing agents who do not have direct carrier appointments. Writing agents can select from approved override NPNs during enrollment submission.
The NPN override feature CANNOT be used in the following states:
Florida
Iowa
Michigan
New Hampshire
North Carolina
South Dakota
Wisconsin
Enrollments in these states must be submitted using the writing agent’s own NPN only.
